AdvaPACS Release 20261005195600
This release adds shareable image links that can be embedded directly in reports, AI-powered selection of relevant priors for prefetching, automatic contrast detection and new per-user notification preferences.
AdvaPACS is rolled out gradually, so not every organization sees a release at the same time. This release begins rolling out on October 12, 2026, 02:00 UTC and may take a few days to reach you — if you don't see these changes right away, check back shortly.
New Features
Embed image links in reports
Reports can now include a link that opens the images associated with that report, even when the report covers several studies. You can choose which viewer the link opens in and whether it's password-protected. External systems can also call the AdvaPACS API to get a link for a patient and one or more of their studies. Creating these links requires the Share Study permission.
AI-powered relevant prior prefetching
Prefetching rules can now use AdvaPACS's AI relevant-study engine to decide which prior studies to retrieve. You only need to set the look-back period you want, with no need to build and maintain your own relevancy criteria. AdvaPACS fetches the priors most likely to matter for the current study, so the right comparisons are ready when reading begins.
Automatic contrast detection
AdvaPACS now reads contrast information from incoming images and flags studies acquired with contrast. This happens automatically, with no setup required.
Notification preferences
A new Notifications section in user settings lets each user choose which email notifications they receive. Study validation, AdvaPACS Gateway and Clinician Portal notifications can be turned on or off individually, and all three stay on by default. Users can also subscribe to email updates whenever new release notes are published.
AI report summary settings
The AI-generated summary of prior reports can now be turned on or off. It can also be set to appear expanded or collapsed by default, to suit how readers like to work.
Configurable DICOM network timeouts
The timeouts AdvaPACS uses for DICOM network communication with remote devices can now be configured. This helps sites with slower links or slow-responding systems avoid transfers and queries failing early.
Improvements
Richer study details sent to RADPAIR
AdvaPACS now sends contrast, patient age, patient gender and laterality to RADPAIR, giving radiologists more context while they report. Report details also stay up to date if a study is linked to its order later or the order details change.
Reports can change status without content in the Reporting Worklist
Some status changes, such as cancelling an order that is ready to report, shouldn't need a report to be written first. Each status transition in the Reporting Worklist now has a "Require Content" setting. Turn it off to allow that transition even when the report is empty. All existing transitions keep requiring content, so current workflows don't change unless you choose to change them.
More ways to sort and search orders in the Reporting Worklist
Orders in the Reporting Worklist can now be sorted by procedure priority, modality and date. The patient search is also more forgiving, so it still finds patients when a name is only partly entered or slightly misspelled.
Ordering clinician shown in the interface
The ordering clinician for a study is now shown in the interface, so staff can see who requested an exam without opening other records.
Organization and site filters for the validation list
The study validation list can now be filtered by organization and site, which makes it easier for multi-site teams to focus on the studies they're responsible for.
Site automatically filled in when uploading studies
When uploading a study through AdvaPACS, the site is now filled in for you, which saves a step and helps make sure uploaded studies are assigned correctly.
Tidier context menus
Context menu options have been reordered so the most useful actions are easier to find. Copy options that aren't available are now shown as disabled.
Clearer message when no viewer is available
If you try to open a study and no viewer is enabled for your account, AdvaPACS now explains the problem more clearly so it's easier to sort out.
Smarter AdvaPACS Gateway file system migrations
AdvaPACS Gateway file system migrations now automatically skip common system and network-storage folders that never contain images. Migrations run more smoothly and are less likely to stop on folders they can't read.
